Internal tooth anatomy is a complex web of tunnels and channels that contains tissues and in cases of infected root canals - harbors bacteria and resistant bacterial colonies. Traditional endodontic cleaning instruments are excellent at cleaning majority of tissue and debris from inside of the root canal system, but in many cases some tissue is not accessible to traditional instruments - this inaccessible tissue still remains in the canal system even after copious cleaning and irrigation. This remaining tissue is often the cause of persistent post root canal treatment disease and decreased healing success rates. 

Passive ultrasonic irrigation technology delivers continuous ultrasonic vibration energy into the irrigation liquids used to clean the root canal system, allowing increased removal of organic tissues from inaccessible areas of the root canals system and allowing the disinfection solution to remove higher levels of bacteria during treatment. In turn, treatment augmented with passible ultrasonic irrigation shows cleaner root canals and increased levels of treatment success among a wide variety of treated teeth.
